Pinned Exhibition Craft NI 2 November 2020 to 2 January 2021

I am delighted to be a part of this special exhibition, ‘Pinned’ I will be honest, it is a while since I have had to make for an exhibiton. So it really does give me a huge amount of gratitude to get this opportunity to make for makings sake again, to be creatively challenged, supported and given space to showcase. My brooch is called ‘Sensory Perception’ inspired by the fragments of my surroundings and collected objects. The meaning of the work is to function in this sense as an artefact of aesthetic perception.

Thanks to Craft NI for hosting the first group exhibition from the Association for Contemporary Jewellers and Silversmiths NI (ACJNI) the work of 23 jewellers and silversmiths who have each responded to the exhibition’s theme to produce one-of-a-kind pieces beyond the scope of their usual commission or production work.

The exhibition features over 50 variations on the idea of a brooch, with versions in both precious and non-precious materials. Traditionally set stones contrast with re-purposed vintage tins and toys, precision geometry meets abstract forms. Gold, silver and gemstones sit alongside found objects in unexpected interpretations that demonstrate technical accomplishment, innovation and creativity. So please go check it out either online or in person.
