PITCH event at Spraoi, supported by Culture Ireland

I was lucky enough to have my concept selected to pitch to a room of international programmers and artists alike. After receiving mentoring sessions from Culture Ireland and ISACS, I was able to present my idea at Spraoi festival 2019.

‘Exploring concept development through the experimental conversations between body, form and material, initial drawings that adorn the body and the body in turn informs. With this project, Nicola wants to employ her background in contemporary jewellery and her varied background in acrobatics and dance. Looking at existing material cultural layering and juxtapose them against the social fabric of cultures past and present, in a relevant, inquisitive and challenging way. The vision is to create sculptural pieces of ice jewellery made from collected rain water. Nicola will then wear them as she dances and contorts. The ice will melt as the body temperature rises through the dance piece. A conversation on climate change and our existence’
